Usually, cherry blooming takes place in late March and lasts for around two weeks. To celebrate this natural phenomenon, which is considered an event of National Tourist Interest, the Cherry Tree Blossom Fest is organized.

The countryside also offers lots of adventure, as there are lots of tracks for hiking/cycling lovers.

If you are a foodie, the Jerte region has a lot to offer to you. Apart from tasting the typical local delicacies made with fruits and cherries, such as tasty jams, wine and liqueur, you will be seduced by the exquisite cuisine of Extremadura. Don’t forget that you are in the land of some of the best ham, pork products and cheese in Spain.

There is also a unique experience that no one travelling to this regions should miss: visiting wild pigs’ beautiful grazing lands and learn how they are bred and they become one of the most delicious and exclusive products in the world: Iberian ham.

But nature and gastronomy are not the only attractions of this region.  There is plenty of architecture, history and culture around…For example, you shouldn’t miss the city of Mérida , which has some of the best preserved Roman remains. Its classical theater is a good example. The city has an interesting cultural calendar filled with unique activities like the International Classical Theater Festival, which takes place every summer and it is one of the most relevant of its kind in Spain.
